Mixed veggie box
(4.5kg box)

4.5kg box of mixed vegetables from our Valencian orchard. According to season and availability we prepare a mixed box of vegetables grown without herbicides and pesticides and under our philosophy of regenerative agriculture. We are growing tomatoes, cucumbers, courgettes, aubergines and peppers.
Name
Mixed vegetable box (4.5kg box) | Naranjas del Carmen
Content of the box
In your box you will receive approx. 2 kg of tomatoes and 2.5 kg of a mix of at least three of the following vegetables that are in season: peppers, cucumbers, zucchini or eggplants that we grow outdoors and under European organic farming standards.

It is difficult to assure you the exact quantity of each vegetable. The quantity of each vegetable may vary according to the maturity of each product on the day of harvesting and shipping.

You receive them fresh as they are picked from the crop without any post-harvest treatment. For their cultivation, we use organic cow manure and control pests with natural predators.
Organoleptic characteristics
Tomato (Marmalindo variety): Very juicy tomato with an intense and sweet flavour. Thin skin, few seeds and meaty texture.
Pepper (Alicum variety): this sweet, green Italian pepper has a conical shape and very thin skin, commonly used for roasting or stuffing.
Cucumber (Beautiful variety): cylindrical shape with a bumpy dark green skin; white flesh with soft, small seeds in the middle; smooth and refreshing flavour; crunchy and juicy texture.
Courgette (Mastil variety): smooth and medium-dark green skin; elongated and cylindrical shape. Slightly sweet flavour with a firm and juicy texture. It is perfect for grilling, roasting, sautéing, or even using raw in salads.
Aubergine (Crystal variety): vibrant dark purple skin; elongated and ovoid in shape; soft and spongy flesh with small seeds.
Harvest and Shipment
We grow our tomatoes and vegetables outdoors, which together with the temperature variation between day and night are the key to their great flavour. This means that their ripening depends entirely on the weather each year. An approximate calendar is from the beginning of June to the end of September.

In the early morning of the shipment day we go into our orchard to pick the tomatoes and vegetables still cool from the night. We harvest those with the perfect maturity level so that they arrive safe and sound. Afterwards, we put them into a box with recycled material, without any plastic. In the afternoon of the same say, our transport partner comes and picks them up. #plasticfree
Conservation
If you keep them in a fresh and airy place, they can last up to 2 weeks in good condition.

When you receive them, consume the ripest ones first. The tomato is a climacteric fruit, which means that it continues to ripen after being harvested. As soon as the tip starts to change to a reddish colour, this indicates that the tomato has already reached its perfect ripening stage from within.
