Sweet red pomegranates (2.5kg box) | Naranjas del Carmen

Each unit weighs between 150g and 250g. In your box you will receive between 12 and 18 units.

Purple Queen (end of August and September): The skin is red, which is also its internal color, resulting in a very attractive color. Its flavor is sweet. The seeds are semi-soft because they are usually somewhat lignified. These pomegranates are suitable for fresh consumption as well as for juice.

Pomegranates do not ripen after harvest, so they must be harvested fully ripe to ensure the best quality for consumption. The purple queen variety is our first of the season and begins to ripen in late August to mid-September.

In the early morning of the shipment day we go to the fields to pick the pomegranates. We harvest those with the perfect maturity level so that they arrive safe and sound. Afterwards, we put them into a box with recycled material, without any plastic. In the afternoon of the same say, our transport partner comes and picks them up.

When they arrive, consume the ripe fruits first.

La Florentina

In 1986 Vicente Borras, professor of Phytopathology and organic farmer by devotion, started a personal project that has become one of the oldest and most emblematic organic farms in Spain: La Florentina.
That same year Gonzalo Úrculo was born, who in 2009 founded Naranjas del Carmen together with his brother Gabriel.
After several lunches and trips around the countryside, Vicente Borras and Gonzalo Úrculo reached an agreement so that the Masia el Carmen team would continue the management of their farm with the commitment of Vicente's help "as long as the body holds out". Since August 2023 we have been managing the 17 hectares of biodiversity that Vicente has been creating for 37 years. This farm grows pomegranates, persimmons, kiwis, peaches, flat peaches and figs surrounded by Mediterranean forest fences, amphibian ponds, a reservoir for auxiliary fauna, bats, etc.
