10 ways – never waste again!

We love eating our oranges! However, we understand that sometimes it can be hard to consume all of them before they begin to spoil. If you like to consume your oranges on the way to work or on a journey or if you are always looking for some new ideas how to use them…then we have some great tips in order to prevent orange wastage and show you that they have much more skills than you could ever have imagined! 

Take a look at this list below, which will give you 10 creative yet simple ideas. Enjoy! 

1.) Do you like tea? Traditionally, orange peels are used as ingredient in teas and are very helpful against stomach cramps and as an appetite stimulant.

2.) Freeze orange zest together with water in ice cube trays. Use it for flavourful drinks on a hot day or to add something special to your daily water routine.

3.) Is your garbage disposal smelling badly? – Keep a jar with vinegar and orange zest on the counter and put a few down the disposal every time you use it.

4.) Are you already planning the next evening with your friends? Make an orange peel face mask. Grind dried orange peels, mix them with either milk or water in equal amounts until you have a paste that can be applied as a face and body treatment.

6.) Make some old fashioned marmalade! It’s a great and delicious addition to your food storage.

7.) Have you already build a fire starters? The oil of the orange zest is volatile. Use it to your advantage and make your own fire starters to warm you up on those cold winter nights.

8.) Keep cats away from your garden or houseplants. People say that cats don’t like the scent of oranges. Try placing dried zests around your plants and see what happens.

9.) Make citrus extract powder: Dry the zest of citrus fruits for about three or four days. Put in a blender and pulverize it to powder.

10.) Make natural citrus cleaner with orange rinds and white vinegar. Your house will smell like oranges and you will never again throw away an orange peel!
